The Ins & Outs of Vascular Surgery with Hasan Aldailami
In this episode of the Phoenix Prosperity Podcast, Tim Fergestad sits down with vascular surgeon Dr. Hasan Aldailami, Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at HonorHealth and professor of surgery with the new Arizona State University School of Medicine and Medical Engineering.
Dr. Aldailami shares his journey from New York City to Arizona and explains how he has helped build and expand the vascular program at HonorHealth into one of the largest and most comprehensive departments in the region. He oversees vascular surgery, vascular medicine, and vascular diagnostics across nine hospitals, while also helping launch a new vascular surgery training program.
The conversation dives into what vascular surgeons actually do. Dr. Aldailami explains the difference between traditional open surgery and endovascular procedures, which use minimally invasive techniques with wires, catheters, balloons, and stents to repair arteries from inside the blood vessels. Today, about 70–80 percent of vascular procedures use these minimally invasive approaches, though complex cases still require traditional surgery.
Dr. Aldailami also discusses the wide scope of vascular care. Vascular surgeons treat diseases of arteries and veins throughout the body, including the neck, chest, abdomen, arms, and legs. They diagnose conditions, perform procedures, interpret imaging, and provide long-term medical care for patients with vascular disease.
